Acupuncture is the process of inserting fine gauge needles into a person to stimulate that person's own healing responses. The acupuncture points found on the meridians that run through the body each have different functions that are used to stimulate different responses, the practitioner's diagnosis determines the selection of points used. Acupuncture treatments can be done with as few as three needles but typically involve the use of 10-20 needles.
